Frametell 0.7.4 fixes movie export crash after rendering

Frametell 0.7.4 was released on 10/29/2026. It fixes a bug that caused export to fail after the movie was created: the tool could not read the length of the finished .mp4 file and reported "cannot read .mp4:" without explanation. Now the movie is passed along with a length taken from the timeline. In addition, if ffmpeg cannot read the movie, the error message explains the cause — including when ffmpeg failed to start or was stopped and produced no output. Details are in the release description on GitHub.

What it means

Frametell is an open source video generator from our reference. The developer Sitor distributes it under the AGPL-3.0 license, and the code is written in TypeScript. The tool runs on macOS on Apple Silicon and uses Chrome, Edge or Chromium to render pages. The authors describe it as a local tool for creating explainer videos with an AI director agent that works with any model. The fix concerns the export stage: previously, after rendering finished, the movie might not be saved because the tool could not determine the file length. Now the length is taken from the timeline, and ffmpeg errors are output with an explanation of the cause. This eliminates the situation where export silently failed without a clear message. For Frametell users on Apple Silicon, the update closes a specific failure at the final stage of work — after the movie has already been created. Those who have encountered the empty "cannot read .mp4:" message should update to 0.7.4.
