ShrimpReel: Video Generator — What It Does and What You Need to Run It

ShrimpReel is an open-source template for launching sites that turn a single photo into a short video following a viral template. The project is aimed at those who want to quickly spin up individual pages for various popular queries: one site per trending keyword.

What it does

As described by the author, the template is built around the "one photo — AI video following a viral template" scenario. Video generation is handled through the fal.ai service. Around this core sits the infrastructure of a typical SaaS site: Google sign-in, credit pack sales through the Waffo and Dodo payment providers, and an admin console for management.

Technically, the project is built on Cloudflare Workers with D1, R2, KV and Queues storage. The frontend and backend use TanStack Start and Hono. The code is written in TypeScript.

What you need to run it

Running it requires Cloudflare infrastructure: Workers as the compute environment, D1 for the database, R2 for file storage, KV for fast values and Queues for background jobs. Video generation requires access to fal.ai. User sign-in is handled through a Google account.

The code is open and distributed under the MIT license. This permits use, modification and distribution, including as part of other projects, provided the license text and copyright notice are retained.

The repository was created on October 20, 2026, with the last code change on October 28, 2026. The source code is available at github.com/qianshuixia/shrimpreel.

Who it suits

The template is aimed at developers who want to quickly launch a series of similar sites with photo-to-video generation and monetization through credit packs. It suits those who already work with, or are ready to work with, the Cloudflare stack and the external fal.ai service.

The project is not aimed at users without a technical background: there is no ready-made out-of-the-box interface for the end viewer here, and you need to deploy and configure the infrastructure yourself. It also won't suit those looking for a local solution without external cloud services.

ShrimpReel addresses a narrow but specific task: quickly launching viral sites with video generation from a single photo. The entire technical foundation is described openly by the authors, and the MIT license creates no obstacles to adapting the code to your own needs.
